About this page

About Slack
Profile Settings
Set your Display name to something containing only hyphens, underscores, periods and alphanumeric characters (no spaces). This makes auto-completion easier and our bots happier. Your Full name can use any characters you like.
Please set a profile picture. If you’re comfortable with it, setting it a picture of yourself is much appreciated.
Direct Messages
Avoid using direct messages, unless unavoidable such as for sending private information. All discussion should happen in a channel.
To avoid any potential issues, please do not use direct messages to discuss topics unrelated to the conference either.
Communication
For faster communication, whenever possible, please use Japanese on Slack. However, you may also use English, but please be aware that not all volunteers are comfortable communicating in English.
If you have any questions or concerns, always feel free to contact on of the chair persons (@nishimotz), your team leader or @jonas (English preferred).
Chair: @nishimotz
The @english team
As an English speaker, you will likely be added to the @english team on Slack. This team can be used by other volunteers to request translations or proof reading of English materials such as blog posts, tweets, printed materials, etc. To prevent multiple people to work on the same translation, please indicate in the Slack thread that you’re working on it and please make sure your read the English Communication Style Guide and Guidelines.
External Communication
Make sure your read the English Communication Style Guide and Guidelines
When communicating outside the PyCon APAC 2023 organizing team, identify yourself as “XYZ from PyCon APAC 2023” or “XYZ from the PyCon APAC 2023 ABC team”.
